With more than 25 years in the entertainment industry, David and Sarah Holland have combined their skills and experience manufacturing scenery with the hiring of top quality pantomime sets. They have created a unique and thriving business. As DSH they bring a wealth of talent to theatres and production companies in need of:
Set construction and set painting
Cloth painting
Stage carpentry
Panto scenery and set hire
Located in the picturesque Cotswold village of Great Tew, near Chipping Norton in West Oxfordshire, DSH’s set construction and scenic painting workshop is easily accessed by road and rail. This makes DSH the perfect choice for theatres and production companies in London, the Midlands and the South of England.
Tew Timber Buildings
In addition DSH have been creating bespoke timber buildings since 1995. Each project, from green oak barns to children’s play houses, are individually designed and craftsman-built by David and Sarah Holland. Having both come from careers in theatre scenery construction, David and Sarah are used to pushing the boundaries and creating structures that are truly unique and fit for task. They build to a design rather than designing within the constraints of normal building methods.

David Holland – Set Construction, Stage Carpenter and Technician
David Holland is a highly skilled and experienced carpenter. Originally a specialist stage set builder, David’s passion for the beauty of wood and timber construction was instrumental in the founding of DSH Carpentry and Design.
All the projects undertaken by DSH are project managed and built by David. Whether your garden or outdoor building is constructed in soft wood or hardwood, David’s skills and attention to detail ensures your project exceeds your every expectation.
Today, David’s carpentry skills extend to both timber buildings and the construction of stage scenery for theatres across the country.
Sarah Holland – Scenic Artist
When you commission a bespoke garden building from DSH Carpentry and Design, Sarah Holland will be your designer. Originally trained at Reigate Art College, Sarah is an accomplished scenic artist who specialises in turning your ideas and desires into reality. Working alongside David, who provides the logistical input, Sarah will design your timber building to meet all your needs, constraints, and aspirations.
Artists’ impressions and renditions
Before work starts on your timber building project, Sarah Holland will prepare sketches from which your design will be based. Once your design is agreed, she will prepare a full set of working drawings.
Because DSH offers a truly bespoke service, you might like to take advantage of Sarah Holland’s artistic skills by requesting a three-dimensional rendition or artist’s impression of your chosen timber building. Many of Sarah’s renditions become treasured art, framed and gracing the walls of her clients’ homes.
